There Are Basically Two Main Types Of Extensions 1. Wefted Services: Usually three tracks or rows of hair placed around the circumference of the head; ear to ear and nape to crown. By attaching the wefts to pre-made anchors (and the anchor is what differentiates the methods), this extension type is by far the quickest. a. Weaves: Corn rowed in or threaded/sewn in; b. Cold Bond: Wefts bonded (secured) in using medical grade adhesive. The weave track is put together by knotting, twisting and weaving thread and growing hair, to which a weft (the actual extension) is then sewn onto. The cold bond fusion adhesive used to attach a "wefts" to your growing is called "bond" (the adhesive is what attaches the new longer hair to your growing hair). The placement of this type of extension is identical to a weave; this is where the two methods are most similar. Both methods also use wefts as the means to attach the extension, called rows or tracks. The only difference between these two methods is in the way the extension attaches to the growing hair. In the case of a weave the extension is attached to a pre-made track. In the case of the cold bond fusion, a medical grade adhesive is used to secure the weft. 2. Single Strand: This method involves placing many small individual extensions through out the entire scalp. (or, also called Strand By Strand) a. Hot Bond: Using glue guns and stick adhesive. A tiny amount of hot adhesive is used to attach the extension; b. Links or Locs: Small metal or plastic "links" are used to bond extension hair to growing hair. c. Braided: Using monofilament thread and extension hair, a tiny braid is made at the base of the scalp. (Also commonly called; Strand by Strand, Great Lengths, Hair or Euro Locks, Shrinkies, Shrink links, Nail Hair, Pre-Bonded/ Per-Tipped, Keratin-Tipped and Braided base Extensions.) Single strand extensions have by far the most alternate ways to install extensions, where as weave tracks and cold bond fusion are all done similarly with only a small amount of variation. This is because single strand extensions can be done on any length of hair, and look the most natural on most everyone. With the single strand method there are many paths to the same outcome, but the premise is the same: A piece of extension hair is attached to an equal piece of growing hair. The differences are the technique in which the extension is attached. Khema offers Two Single Strand Services Methods: 1. Mini-Links (non-glue) method; 2. Fusion method. These methods were chosen for their ability to be the most natural looking, safe, fast and most importantly, installed with a minimal of damage. Khema provides partial and full extension services, depending on the look you want, what your natural hair can support, and on how much you want to spend. Each person requires different extension amounts. FAQ: 1. Will the hair extensions hurt my natural hair? No, the application and removal of our methods will not cause damage to your existing growing hair The ingredients in the bond (adhesive), and the techniques used to attach the hair, are all done with a careful hand. Our selected hair attachment methods are soft enough to not cause damage, but strong enough to hold until removed. If the bond is too hard breakage happens at the root. We also do not weave too tightly which can lead to traction baldness. There are three points at which hair can be damaged: a. Too Tight. While wearing them the added weight of the extension can put "stress" on the hair follicle (the follicle, or root is the place under the scalp where the hair grows). b. Too Heavy: Hair weighing too much for the growing hair can support. c. Patterns not moved around the head: Having the extension (or hairpiece) sewn into the same pattern for a 3 year or more period of time. Khema will make sure your hair will not be damaged by your new hair extensions. In fact, you natural hair will continue to flourish and grow with the hair extensions in place. 2. Can I Use A Curling Iron or Flat Iron? Yes, we use the best quality REMY human hair, and it can be treated like your own growing hair. The hair has been through a lot, processing raw hair to make it available in many textures and colors. REMY hair comes in every color and texture imaginable. 3. Can I get the hair extensions wet? Yes. Check out the Hair Extension Care link for proper care instructions. 4. Can I Color My New Extension Hair (If I don't like the hair I chose) Because of the large variety of texture and colors available, most every color or texture can be bought to match your hair. Because hair extensions covers up most of the back area or your hair (weave and cold bond, single strand covers the top), coloring this back area is not needed every time you get your re-touch done; try a partial first and see how you like it. Many women love the time and money they save. So instead of coloring every 5 to 8 weeks, you can change your color schedule as follows: (Full, Partial, Partial, Full) 1st time: Full Color (or having all your hair colored). 2nd time: 5 to 8 weeks later do a "Partial" color (partial is only the areas that show). 3rd time: 5 to 8 weeks later another "Partial" color. Then back to a "Full" color. This means, if you go every 7 weeks for a full color, you can now introduce partial colors, every other time you go get your hair color done. 5. Are hair cuts included in the cost of the extensions? Haircuts are included in the price of the extensions. Never allow anyone cut your hair while you are under our extension care; there is good reason. If mistakes are made, and the growing hair is cut too short, the hair extensions will have to be shortened to match, and you loose permanent length, or in a worse case scenario, the hair is cut to short, and new extension hair has to be bought. * Click here for Hair Extension Care Instructions |
